Première Vision puts the circular economy front and center

Held last week in Paris, the Première Vision trade show confirmed the accelerating shift toward sustainability in the textile industry, placing a strong emphasis on the challenges of the circular economy, recycling, and eco-design. This was the theme of the Eco-Innovation Seminar, where Refashion, the textile industry’s eco-organization and a member of EuraMaterials, participated in a roundtable discussion focused on product recyclability and the key role of eco-design in facilitating end-of-life recycling.
VVC, another member of EuraMaterials, showcased STRATASYS—a global leader in additive manufacturing (3D printing)—at its booth. STRATASYS offers solutions that bridge the gap between packaging and fashion and accessories; its latest innovation is a 3D-printed button designed to match the fabric.
In terms of recycling, a quick review for the Interreg RE-APS project allowed us to identify developments by ANTEX and its YARNBACK™ yarn, which combines thermomechanical and chemical recycling of both pre- and post-consumer materials.
Synthetic agrotextiles derived from natural sources are becoming increasingly important, but their production volumes remain modest.

Against the backdrop of a mixed economic climate, the Première Vision trade show demonstrated a clear commitment to promoting European expertise as a source of resilience and a key differentiator for the textile industry.
