Launch of the Interreg projects Elast2sustain and Circoplast

The official launch of the Interreg France-Wallonia-Flanders projects Elast2sustain and Circoplast took place on February 27, 2025, at the EuraMaterials site in Tourcoing. These two ambitious projects bring together partners such as Centexbel, the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, KU Leuven Kulak, Certech, the University of Lille, and EuraMaterials to address the challenges of sustainable innovation in materials and recycling.
Following a welcome from EuraMaterials and a presentation of the Interreg VI France-Wallonia-Flanders program, participants were given an overview of the broader challenges of plastic recycling to better understand the context of the Elast2Sustain and Circoplast projects.
The afternoon provided an opportunity to delve into the details of mechanical recycling, with presentations by Centexbel, URCA, UGent, andUMET, and chemical recycling, with presentations by CERTECH, KU Leuven, and Materia Nova.
The day concluded with roundtable discussions that brought together all participants and experts from projects focused on mechanical and chemical recycling. The goal of these roundtables was to provide a forum for discussing the challenges manufacturers face in integrating these recycling technologies.
Both projects have a duration of four years.
