BioBAR Project: Recipient of the regional "STIMULE" grant

Good news: This year, BioBAR (Bio-Based Resins) is one of the four winners of the regional STIMULE program!
(Support for interdisciplinary, multi-institutional, and exploratory research).

This initiative supports innovative and transformative projects that address economic and social challenges
by bringing together the necessary expertise.

The BioBAR project, a collaboration between the Transformations and Agroresources Unit atthe University of Artois’s research laboratory and the company Arc France, aims to explore the possibility of replacing the petroleum-based inks used in the decoration of glassware produced by Arc with 100% bio-based products.

The idea is to develop bio-based resins using raw materials of natural origin, sourced primarily from the Hauts-de-France region.

In fact, these resins must fully comply with Arc International’s product specifications, as well as meet the application requirements for the decorative finishes on the equipment used by the company.

This project, which will run through 2027 and focuses on “chemistry, materials, and the circular economy,” will enable each partner to contribute their material and human resources to ensure its success and will help strengthen the Hauts-de-France region’s leading position in the field of bio-based chemistry, particularly in the area of agro-based materials.

In the longer term, other industries may consider using these resins.
