How Domotex is leveraging AI to celebrate 50 years of textile innovation

Dymension is a startup specializing in artificial intelligence development, designated an “AI expert” by Bpifrance.
The company helps small and medium-sized businessesoptimize their business processes by designing customized solutions (intelligent search engines, automated email management, secure chatbots, and administrative tools).
Dymension’s vision: to increase clients’ margins and revenue by integrating AI into the core of their operations through concrete, measurable, and rapidly profitable projects.
A long-standing tradition facing a new challenge
For 50 years, Domotex, based in Saint-André-lez-Lille, has been designing textile patterns for the industry. A true leader in its field, the company offers thousands of designs to manufacturers of home textiles, clothing, and decorative textiles across Europe.
With tens of thousands of designs created over the decades, Domotex now boasts an exceptional graphic heritage… but one that is difficult to put to practical use on a day-to-day basis.
Sales representatives, who are often in contact with customers looking for new products, were familiar with only a small portion of the catalog (the latest collections or a few isolated designs on the server).
The result: missed opportunities, time-consuming back-and-forth with the design team, and a waste of resources on designs that sometimes already exist but need to be recreated.
The goal: to provide sales representatives with a practical sales support tool
Domotex aimed to bring its historical catalog to life and make it accessible, so that every sales representative could instantly find patterns matching a specific theme, trend, or description during client meetings.
The idea: to transform this archive database into a smart sales support tool capable of:
– saving time for sales and creative teams,
– showcasing past designs,
– improving sales responsiveness,
– and reducing reliance on employees’ individual memories.
The Dymension solution: a visual search engine powered by AI
Dymension has developed an intelligent image search engine for Domotex, based on an AI model trained specifically on the brand’s visuals.
The user enters a query in natural language, for example:
“blue leopard print”, “pastel pink gingham”, “floral print / spring flower print”

The AI immediately identifies matching patterns in the database.
Thanks to semantic indexing enhanced by generative AI, the search engine understands a wide range of phrasing: if two people within the same field use different words to describe an idea (for example, “floral pattern” vs. “flower pattern”), they will get equally relevant results.

Integrated with the ERP system: inventory visibility + potential for reactivation
The tool is connected to Domotex’s ERP system, allowing users to view real-time stock levels for a particular pattern directly from its image.
This enables sales representatives to immediately check whether the fabric is available.
But that’s not all: one possible evolution of the system is to bring certain dormant items back into the algorithm—that is, items that take a long time to sell or are rarely requested—which could reappear in the suggestions when the demand matches. In other words, incorporating proactive monitoring of underutilized assets to reactivate them based on the context of the customer’s search.
A custom project that stays true to dymension’s DNA
This project embodies dymension’s philosophy: designing customized AI solutions tailored to the client’s business context and existing tools.
For Domotex, the challenge was not merely technological: it was about showcasing a unique heritage and empowering a team in direct contact with the market.
The benefits:
- Significant time savings for sales and creative teams
- Better utilization of the historical catalog
- Reduced reliance on internal memory
- Enhanced customer experience
- Increased revenue through a more responsive and relevant offering
- Opportunity to revitalize dormant inventory through smart reintegration
