Highlights from the AAL4Pack trade show

Several innovative companies from the Hauts-de-France region were present at the All4Pack trade show. EuraMaterials members included Malenge Packaging and its 100% recyclable barrier paper packaging solutions, developed in partnership with the Technical Paper Center. Daurema and its 100% renewable molded cellulose packaging solutions designed to replace plastic packaging. The startup Reutec, which develops reusable shipping containers for logistics to offer a sustainable alternative for B2B and B2C shipments.

Among the innovations showcased at the trade show, the following are worth noting:
A new CleanLoop IML labeling solution developed by Propyplast ( Leygatech Group ) that allows rigid packaging—such as jars and tubes—to be decorated without the inks and varnishes used causing issues during recycling, an innovation for which Leygatech received two 2024 Packaging Oscars.
The principle:
“LMG CleanLoop is characterized by the separation, starting during the shredding phase, of the printed layer from the rest of the IML label and the white or transparent container. Virgin recycled PP is thus obtained after washing, density separation, and drying. This is then re-extruded to produce ready-to-use PP pellets.”

The Gascogne Group has unveiled its innovative, eco-friendly, high-barrier paper, Gascogreen® Fluor Free

The bag is made from completely fluorine-free paper, has grease-resistant properties, and contains more than 90% paper. Specifically designed for the pet food and food markets, it offers excellent protection against grease, moisture, and oxygen.

Verallia France also won a Packaging Oscar for the Air 300G lightweight Bordeaux bottle, the lightest glass bottle ever produced, weighing just 300 grams compared to the 540 grams of traditional bottles and even the 420 grams of so-called lightweight bottles.

“This project presented a significant challenge. Our approach involved creating state-of-the-art modeling tools to predict the bottle’s mechanical performance, taking into account factors such as impact resistance and vertical load resistance. These modeling tools also provided insights into optimizing the precise distribution of glass, considering the design of the preform molds and shape parameters. However, the innovation doesn’t stop there. Another crucial phase of this development requires mastering the industrial process, integrating strict process controls to ensure glass quality at every stage of production,” the company notes
Also worth noting in the startup sector
– Releaf Paper, a Ukrainian startup that produces paper and cardboard packaging from recycled sheets collected in urban areas. The packaging is fully recyclable and does not require the use of pulp from our forests.
Releaf Paper claims that every ton of paper produced using their innovative process saves 17 trees. The company began production in September 2021 with an annual capacity of 5,000 tons.
