Biofouling and the Environment: The 2nd GDR Plenary Sessions in Lille
May 5–6, 2026
IEMN – Lille
On May 5 and 6, 2026, Lille will host the 2nd Plenary Meeting of the Biofouling and Environment Research Group (GDR), organized atthe IEMN – Institute of Electronics, Microelectronics, and Nanotechnology.
The event at a glance
This scientific event will bring together researchers, doctoral students, and industry representatives to address a major issue: biofouling— the accumulation of microorganisms, algae, or marine organisms on submerged surfaces. This phenomenon poses a significant challenge for many sectors, including the maritime, energy, infrastructure, environmental, and materials sectors.
Over the course of two days, participants will be able to:
- attend scientific conferences on the latest research developments,
- explore interdisciplinary research that combines biology, chemistry, physics, and materials science,
- discuss innovative solutions for preventing and controlling biofouling,
- promote collaboration between laboratories and industry partners.
These events will also provide an opportunity to highlight the work of the French scientific community involved in understanding and managing these complex environmental phenomena.
