Agrobiotex • Plants as tools for innovation
We supported the Agrobiotex project, which developed novel technical textiles made from agricultural by-products or renewable resources instead of oil. The market outlets for these textiles reflect consumer demand for environmentally friendly products. Technical textiles mainly have their uses in the agrotextile, construction material and cosmetics markets.
In just twenty years, the textile industry had shed two thirds of its workforce and production had decreased by over half. This explains why more and more businesses have moved into technical textiles, where market opportunities are far greater.
